SMOKE-FREE HOTEL Certification Program

   The star is symbolic of the widely-recognised hotel star-rating system.

   The leaf is symbolic of industry standards set by Green Leaf Foundation reflects the attainment of outstanding environmental quality standards.

   The white frangipani (plumeria acuminata ) or Leelawadee is Thai. Other common names for the frangipani tree are temple tree or pagoda tree. The Leelawadee symbolizes pure, fresh air, wellness and prosperity which has been used to symbolize the hotels which our certified as “ Smoke-free Hotel” The five petals of the white Leelawadee is symbolic of partnership with various industry partners coming together to contribute to the success of the Smoke-free Hotel Program.

    The number five signifies the highest rating awarded for excellence such as is the five-stars rating system and the five leaves is the Green Leaf Foundation awards signifying environmentally-friendly, energy-efficient hotel operations.

	Silver Standard Smoke-free Hotels Participating hotel (or resort) properties offering between 65 to 75 % smoke-free accommodation out of the hotel rooms available, have over 75 % non-smoking staff and meet heath related criteria as specified will meet the Silver Standard they will be presented with a certificate with a silver star.
	Gold Standard Smoke-free Hotel To be awarded the Gold Standard and be presented with a certificate with a gold star, a participating hotel (or resort) needs to offer over 75% smoke-free accommodation and over 85% or more of its staff must be non-smokers. It also needs to meet other heath-related criteria as specified.
